Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun

Here at the Fatima Shrine, we will commemorate the Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun, with a special 7:00 pm Mass followed by a Candlelight Rosary Procession, and all are welcome to join us in honoring Our Lady of Fatima on this most blessed day.

On October 13, 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary fulfilled her promise to the three children of Fatima, appearing for the final time in a manifestation that would become known as the Miracle of the Sun. Before an estimated 70,000+ witnesses gathered in the Cova da Iria, the sun appeared to dance, spin, and plunge toward the earth in a spectacular celestial display that defied natural explanation. This extraordinary sign, witnessed by believers and skeptics alike, served as divine authentication of Our Lady’s messages of prayer, penance, and conversion, establishing Fatima as one of the Church’s most significant approved apparitions and a cornerstone of modern Marian devotion.
